In a large nonreactive saucepan, bring berries, 6 cups water, sugar, cloves, cardamom, zest, and vanilla bean to a boil. Reduce the heat to moderately low and simmer, uncovered, stirring occasionally, about 10 minutes.
Strain through a fine sieve (do not press solids), and cool to room temperature. Stir in orange juice. When ready to serve, stir in club soda. Serve over ice.
